Miami Horror & Geographer Show 11/28/11

Its been over a year since I posted a short introduction to Miami Horror. By now they shouldn't need any introduction because their music has done most of the talking and they put out some good stuff. I'm throwing this out there for any Sacramento peeps who are looking to join me. Tickets are $15. If I can get 2 people to join me, I'll pay for half of each of their ticket... Democratic Republic of Congo - Kinshasa One Two

A collective of producers gathered by Damon Albarn recently visited the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to produce a new album for Oxfam. T-E-E-D (Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs), Dan The Automator, Jneiro Jarel, Richard Russell, Actress, Marc Antoine, Alwest, Rodaidh McDonald and Kwes all made the trip with the plan - to make an album in 5 days.

Wracked by years of conflict, the DRC is home to one of the world's worst humanitarian crises, and proceeds from the album will go to helping Oxfam's work, helping thousands of the DRC's poorest people.

I have both of these songs from my most recent download binge... have no idea where they're from but am really enjoying right now. With a tiny amount of research, it looks like DJ screw was holding it down in Houston back in the late 90's chopping and screwing thousands of songs and including them in hundreds of mixtapes creating a huge underground following in the process.... rest in peace dj screw.

Really getting into the smooth R&B with an electronic nightbus approach... The whole EP is good... really good... But it'll take a few go arounds for the tracks to resonate.
