I don't listen to a lot of hip hop but heard this local Sacramento artist Rasar Thejeli do spoken word at TEDx Sacramento and really enjoyed what I heard. Found his pay what you want album online and it its reminiscent some Del the funky homosapien, Atmosphere and a little Jurassic 5... which is pretty good company to keep. DJ Screw
I have both of these songs from my most recent download binge... have no idea where they're from but am really enjoying right now. With a tiny amount of research, it looks like DJ screw was holding it down in Houston back in the late 90's chopping and screwing thousands of songs and including them in hundreds of mixtapes creating a huge underground following in the process.... rest in peace dj screw.
