Memorial Memories - Mudge #88

photo: Stoner

Whoa! Didn't realize its been so long since the last mixtape... My bad. There are a number of mixes inbetween that I'll need to polish up and will be posting sooner rather than later... I checked the downloads on #83 and was STOKED to see all of the support!!! That feels great to know there are others out their rocking the mix...

I made this mixtape in preparation for my Memorial Day road trip down to Malibu. I can already see this working well for a nice beach day in Malibu with a bunch of friends, cold beers, grillin meats, beach volley ball, body surfing, bikinis, sunsets ... Pretty much channeling our college youth through new mixtapes! Check it out and let me know where you took your Mudgemix over the holiday weekend!

Oh yeah, thanks for all of the support! Please support the featured artists buy buying their songs, checking out their concerts, etc. Keep on coming back...

Mudgemix #83

If you missed the opportunity to party hard in the eighties, this mix is for you. Casual Warm Synths, Weird Vocals and danceable percussions wrapped in ambient neon light... pop this cassett tape into your delorean as you make your way down PCH late night to some sweaty 80's club. let the first couple tracks build some energy, create some tension and get you into the groove... After that, just give into the the mix, dance through the hairier electro parts and enjoy yourself...

Mudgemix #80

I have a great new mix for all of you out there on the interwebs... I was telling my wife Savannah today how I've been on an indie folky vibe now and as a result, a number of my most recent mixtapes are along that vein. This one is similar to #78 and has some great organic arrangments, warm vocals, rythmic percussions, flutes... hope you enjoy! Miami Horror & Geographer Show 11/28/11

Its been over a year since I posted a short introduction to Miami Horror. By now they shouldn't need any introduction because their music has done most of the talking and they put out some good stuff. I'm throwing this out there for any Sacramento peeps who are looking to join me. Tickets are $15. If I can get 2 people to join me, I'll pay for half of each of their ticket... Hit me up if you're interested? Geographer is opening for them, and although I'm not familiar with their music, I'm checking it out right now and am liking what I'm hearing (IndieAlternativeElectronic Gravy). Check em out if your not familiar below and let me know!

Spencer Lokken - Time & Edit Wait for No Man

Spencer Lokken is one half of Lokkenic, the husband and wife dj duo and 2/3rd's of The Orchard Lounge. This guy's got an incredible talent for weaving together beautiful mixes. His wife is incredibly talented to... Here's a new mix offered up that I'm 15minutes into and loving it! Highly recommended grooves.

Mudge 72 - Ambient Trips

I'm very excited to share with you this ambient mix with all of you. This is great music to put on in the background and daydream, think, express yourself, drive, hang out, contemplate... you get the idea. Very emotive and ethereal. I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed making it and support the artists... most of them need it!

Mudge's Let's Get Creepy

Nothing like a couple creepy dark songs to really get me fired up for Halloween...I've been compiling a playlist of songs that I get to dust off ever time this year. Perfect for walking through a graveyard on a full moon and partying with zombies. I wish I could be with everyone this Halloween but unfortunately that won't be doable. The next best thing is to download my Creepy Mix and play it at your Halloween party and I will be with you in spirit. Mediafire link to download entire playlist at bottom of post.

After listening and relistenting to this beautiful track by Pressed And, its as though I just took a spiritual shower and washed off all of the impurities built up over the whole week. Reminiscent of James Blake and as refreshing like a cool autumn stream.

Democratic Republic of Congo - Kinshasa One Two

A collective of producers gathered by Damon Albarn recently visited the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to produce a new album for Oxfam. T-E-E-D (Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs), Dan The Automator, Jneiro Jarel, Richard Russell, Actress, Marc Antoine, Alwest, Rodaidh McDonald and Kwes all made the trip with the plan - to make an album in 5 days.

Wracked by years of conflict, the DRC is home to one of the world's worst humanitarian crises, and proceeds from the album will go to helping Oxfam's work, helping thousands of the DRC's poorest people.
