Back with some Heat!

Primary 1 - Some obscure DJ who likes primary colors and making semi-uncomfortable/weird tunes that are infectious... I'll start you off with a no-friggin brainer... The Shoes, two scruffy looking hipsters from France (aha!) give P1 the remix treatment, throw some computer automated voices, a falsetto in the corus, a couple synthesizers and a nice baseline and you have a the perfect feel good summertime jam!

THE SHOES Rework for PRIMARY 1 "Hold me down" by THE SHOES
Download link: Primary 1 - Hold Me - http://www.box.net/shared/ucap5n66gp

Onto the next... caveat: slightly weirder because its a purer strain of P1, although not totally uncomfortable because this is P1 giving an Alex Metric jam the remixover...

It Starts- Alex Metric (Primary 1 Cover) by Primary 1

Last, but DEFINATELY not Least is Chilly Gonzalez with a track that I couldn't help but share. The downloadable Chilly Rap version is awesome, albeit crude is thoroughly enjoyable. Unfortunately not safe for younger audiences or the more refined listener.

Chilly Gonzales - Never Stop by Big Dog Media

Download Link: http://www.box.net/shared/ztb7hdv98c

Chilly is new to my world but is one of those artist who has always been behind the scenes makin things happen for years. Classically trained in piano, this producer/writer/artist was the main contributor to Feist's album The Reminder (Highly Recommentded), which went gangbusters and has a number of other credits including collabs with Erol Alkan and Boys Noize...

ENJOY!

Pardon the absence

I've maxed out my free Sound Cloud account and am now on the hunt for another media storage site to link to... more of an inconvenience than anything else and easy to put off. Should be back online in the near future!

Evenings

this one's a nice one to wake up to... I'll have one expirimental ambient gaze pop rock and a Venti black coffee... Evenings is Nathan Broddus, a 20 year old dude making music from his dorm...

WOW... OMG - 2G2BTRU

All cheese ball aside, this song is straight FIRE!!!!! Might get some slack from other music peeps for not being in love with Prince... I'm not really familiar with any of his music, and never watched Purple Rain, maybe because he creeped me out...

But this...

Colin Munroe - I Would Die 4 U (Prince Cover) by Mudge!!!

This is a track I can get behind. This is song is one that you wanna dedicate to your loved one on the radio station, adding some sort of cute love note shout-out... "I luv u bu!"

WTF?! Here's another cover by Colin Munroe, although this time it feels like Sufjan Stevens covering U2

Sunday Bloody Sunday by UnsungHero

And lastly, a bonus track that is reminiscent of a polished pop gem collab you would find Kanye and Oasis...

weekend's over...

So the weekend is over, but we can still start making plans for the next one right?

I got a couple ACE's up the sleeve... two excellent weekend party jams that are both weird enough to make you tingle and good enough to get you through the next couple days till FRIDAY!

First up, a duo from the UK by the name of Ocelot, getting the remix treatment by Louis La Roche... this track is reminiscent of a J.T. song, which should get the ladies moving... but obviously gonna be wAyyy better because its not played out by every radio station nonstop ever single day...

Ocelot - Beating Hearts (Louis La Roche remix) by Mudge!!!

Next up a group from the UK by the moniker... Fenech-Soler... maybe their french, or maybe its that anything French is usually BADICAL! (Bad as in Bad-ass and RADICAL)... Let me preface this track: you might take a while to warm up to the squirrel girl's breathy pseudo yelps... but when you do, the song really blossums, like a beautifly rose destined for the dance floor

Fenech-Soler - The Cult of Romance (Combo Remix) by Mudge!!!

Erland Oye

I can't get over the awesomeness of Erland Oye. This guy has an incredible pulse on creating quality music...

Erot vs. Kings of Convenience - Gold For The Price Of Silver by Mudge!!!

Doesn't get groovier than that...

Pretty much the genius behind Kings of Convenience, Whitest Boy Alive, collaborations with talented artists such as Royskopp and his own solo works... KOC was my first foray into Oye's work, which is VERY MELLOW, and both CD's kept me satisfied until I learned about his new group Whitest Boy Alive, which is a combo of KOC and JamBand/Groovin Electronica.

Weekend Goodlets

a little something to get your weekend started - This is a PHENOMENAL remix by PhaseOne of Animal Collective's track Daily Routine... Its like getting caught in a tropical storm of Electronic Sprinkles... and instead of getting soaked, you're whole body tingles with joy...

Daily Routine (Phaseone Remix) by Mudge!!!

next up is a remix of Two Door Cinima Club, a friggin' bad ace INdie group from Ireland of all places... Signed with Kitsune, the awesome frAAAnch record lable so you know there gonna turn out some heat. Their original songs are good but the remixs are epic... This track comes compliments of EtMousPourTous... thank you EtMousPourTous!

Two Door Cinema Club - What You Know (LightsoverLA Remix) by Mudge!!!

this one will make you wiggle

Alex Metric - Rising to prominence in 2008 and pretty much taking over in 2010, this guy couldn't be more on top of his game with both his remixes and original material, offering his unique spin on quality Electro Party jams... First one up will bring you from 0-60 in a matter of seconds...

03-Deadly-On-A-Mission-Alex-Metric-Mix by Mudge!!!

Next up is his interpretation of what I previously thought was THE perfect jam back in 5th or 6th Grade... Second only to Coolio's "Gangster's Paradise"... but a close 2nd at that.

Sabotage (Alex Metric re-edit) by alexmetric

Bonus Track from the Treasure Chest - Featured in Mudge #21

Gayngs

This is what happens when a collective of incredible artists get together to make sensual jazzy tracks with "drugged up keyboards". Most notable in the group for me was Bon Iver... Check this track offered up by JAGJAGUAR

there's another track that is downloadable by visitng the labels site below.

Ali Love - Remixed by FuntCase & Mighty Mouse

Funt Case - This guy turns out some filthy dubstep... Back Alley grime DJ + some sort of European JT/Prince Pop diva = Perfection

Ali Love - Smoke & Mirrors (FuntCase Remix) by Mudge!!!

show both some love at FuntCase & Ali Love

Bonus: Pulled this gem out of the archives - Mudge #29 circa January 2010 - Combo this with the DeffStar & Midnight love tracks and you'll have a great start to your mixtape hand crafted for love making - Get STaRTED!

Ali Love - Love Harder (Mighty Mouse Remix) by Mudge!!!

poison - martina topley bird

so I've come to terms with my obsession for weird music. A year or two ago that was techno, then electro bangers, then indie remixes, and so on... Always too imersed in my old preferences to really dicern the extent of the weirdness/brilliance. Savannah used to be able to offer some grounded perspective, although I think her well has been tainted... so with out further ado, check out this tasty little morsel and let me know what you think!

06-Poison by Mudge!!!

Martina Topley Bird created a stir in British downtempo and triphop in the early nineties and has collaborated with the best, including Tricky, Danger Mouse and Massive Attack.

In a time where electronic music keeps piling layers apon layers, this track offers a sparse but uniquely rich morsel. Bird's vocals, the percussion and jungle/tropical beat make this a mudgemix gem...

check her and and support at http://www.martinatopleybird.com/

Spread the love!

JOTS - Jokers of the Scene

get ready... this shiz is heavy, weird and so good all at the same time. Might be overwhelming for a few but then again, you don't have to download it... Helps to play loud and with a decent amoung of bass. All tracks are guilt-free downloads compliments of RCRDLBL!!!!

Bonus Track: sends me back to when I first started scouring music blogs for good stuff... might have been on one of my early electronic compilations (2007?) with the Bloody Beetroots...

Tennishero is my Hero

Can't get over how incredible this track is (thank you DailyBeatz)... this song is as close as I'll ever get to making love in the clouds... and a perfect combination to Deff Stars remix of Daft Punk I wrote about a couple posts ago. Tennishero is two Swedish dudes, Jens Anderrson and Alexander Berg, making the perfect lounge/groove tracks.

Tennishero - Midnight Love by Mudge!!!

on a different note. I just got new computer speakers with a huge subwoofer... has completly changed the way i get to experience music. The timing couldn't have been better, because I recently downloaded this track by Active Child from RCRDLBL, and couldn't be more impressed... LocalNatives/FleetFoxes meets some epic hybrid Radiohead meets Dubstep. loves suspense. Play this loud, enjoy & download guilt-free...

David E Sugar

Check out this remix by David E. Sugar... Give it a couple listens before you come to any conclusions and you'll find your body start to move uncontrollably... love the build ups and release around 2:45 and 4:15...

CFCF

Korallreven - The Truest Faith (CFCF Remix) by Mudge!!!

This guy can do no wrong... Highly encouraged listening.

And while we're listening to tracks that will get your lady into the mood... here's a Daft Punk gem remixed by Def Starr, who is able to add a pinch of boom boom time into an already epic track. Enjoy!

Something About Us (Deff Star Remix) by Mudge!!!

Monday, August 2, 2010

These two are soooo good. Not the typical epic party jam that I have an affinity for... Simon Hinter puts together a cereabral dreamscape that allows you to get lost. Perfect road trip or journaling music... Highly encouraged listening whenever you're doing something where your focus is more on the the activity at hand and not the music itself... until you realize that the music itself is sooo friggen good.
Another beautiful track suggested by Keytars and Violins...

Simon hinter-take care (aki latvamaki remix) by Mudge!!!

another track along the same vein... Scott Hardkiss remixed by Morgan Geist. Don't know much about Scott Hardkiss but was able to find this about him from RCRDLBL, the generous sponser of the track. "He was one of the first US DJ exports, traveling the globe spreading an eclectic mix of funky, psychedelic breaks and beats produced through his seminal Hardkiss Music. His recent relocation to the east coast and establishment of his Brooklyn-based God Within label continues his evolution with a series of visionary digital EPs remixed by renowned DJs such as Joe Claussell, Kris Menace, Robbie Rivera, Morgan Geist, Q-Burns Abstract Message, Dean & Britta, Telepathe and Scott Hardkiss himself to worldwide buzz and radio play." Morgan Geist is incredible... worthy of a full post and more. I'll have to elaborate another time.

Pulshar - Sacrifice of Love

Pulshar-sacrifice of love by Mudge!!!

YESSSS!!! Nothing like a little soothing electronic beats to start the morning right. Thank you to Keytars and Violins for the track and suggestion.

Pulshar is the collaborative dub house project of Pablo Bolivar and Aphro Sainz. Theyre a new fusion of dubby atmopheres and chilled pop beats... infused rhythms meets minimal house

show them some love at http://www.myspace.com/pulshar

Enjoy!
